Septo-Zan was quite proud of himself for coming up with such a brilliant plan. For with the assimilation process he now possessed all the information and memories that Lynn Booth had possessed. With this knowledge it would be quiet easy to portray himself as whom he appeared to be.
He looked at the clock, it was close to midnight. Knowing that John would probably be coming home soon he went to the bedroom and went to bed, so that when john arrived he would be none the wiser.
All would appear as it normally would be. He lay there and contented as he could be went to sleep.
Septo-Zan awoke the next morning to the smell of brewing coffee, and the sound of the shower running in the bathroom. He must have been extremely tired because he did not hear John come in last night. So he got up and went down stairs to take a look around.
Typical habitat, he thought to himself. He went into the kitchen and poured a cup of coffee. Soon John came down stairs. Good morning, he said to (Lynn). Good morning (she) replied. I just got back in about two hours ago, did you miss me? “As always”, was the reply. They sat and talked for a while,
Soon it was time for john to return to work. John left promptly at 7:45 to avoid the heavy morning traffic.
As soon as John was off Septo-Zan was on the phone to Lynns’ brother Phillip.
Hello, Phil speaking may I help you? Hello Phillip, it’s Lynn I just remembered, we were supposed to go on holiday for the weekend when John got off work Friday. So would you be a dear and bring Thomas and Bluey to the flat say about 3:00pm on Friday. You know how John likes to be prompt when we have to go anywhere. “Of course!” replied Phil. That won’t be a problem at all. Phillip suddenly felt a knot in the pit of his stomach. Thinking, I hope they make it back here before that or we will all be in deep doo. Thank you ever so much said Lynn you’re the best, and with that she hung up.
Now it was time to do some detailed investigating. Septo-Zan went from room to room trying to find anything that might aid him in accomplishing his goal. He came up empty; there was nothing in the house that he found of any use. So he decided to take his search outside. When he opened the door, to his surprise there stood Thomas’ friend Toby. Good morning Mrs. B said Toby. Good morning Toby, Septo-Zan replied. Has Tomo come home yet? No, he won’t be home until Friday afternoon sorry.
That’s okay. I guess I will see him then. Well I got to get to school, see you later Mrs. B. Toby headed up the street and when he was out of sight Septo-zan resumed his search. When he went to the back yard he saw the little girl Sammy walking toward the house. He sighed under his breath. Hello Sammy, how are you today? I'm fine thank you Mrs. Booth. I just came by to see if Thomas had found out anything about our dogs. (Septo-zan knew all too well what had become of Sammy’s dog Libby. She had been assimilated.) No, we haven’t seen any sign of them yet, but we are still hopeful! Septo-Zan tried to sound hopeful for the girl. If we find out anything we will let you know straight away alright! "Thank you Mrs. Booth “said Sammy. Is Thomas still here? No dear I’m afraid he is still at his uncle’s house and won’t be home until Friday afternoon. Well thanks’ again Mrs. Booth. Sammy too bounded off for school.
Septo-Zan thought just one more interruption and I’m going to………………………………..
