Tom I have picked a signal on my scanner. I do believe that the enemy has caught up with us.
As I told you I have made some repairs to the ship however I am not sure if I will be able to sustain the necessary power we need to escape from our pursuers. Once I am able to get us into hyper drive I will try to elude them by activating the cloaking devise to buy us some much needed time.
Are you two ready? It’s going to be a rough ride! Simultaneously Tom and Bluey said yes.
Engines primed and ready they began their ascent. Not knowing in which direction they were headed, only knowing that if they did not escape it would mean the end of them, and any chance of saving the mission. They were still able to monitor the star ship on their radar only now they could do so without being detected. Xen was very nervous. He knew that their power source would not last long enough for them to continue at their present rate of speed and cloaking the ship was causing more of a strain, thus decreasing the power source even more.
Tom, sensing Xen’s anxiety asked, “Is there some other constellation nearby where we can possibly get more fuel and still be safe?” Xen thought for a moment. Okay we are at Perseus we could by my calculations possibly make it to the Dra star within 25 parsecs which would allow us enough time for refueling and possibly get some parts we will need. “I know you can do it”, said Bluey. “I certainly hope so”, said Tom. It seems that it is our best chance, so let’s not waste any time. Xen charted the course in the computer, and they were on their way.
In no time they had reached their destination. Temporarily safe, Xen quickly located what items he would need to refuel and replace the chamber. To tom the chamber reminded him of a clear marble with holes on two ends. Here too, the air was gaseous so Bluey and tom had to observe from within the ships safety. Xen was connecting some type of hose to a hole in the ground, and the other end to the ball which was attached to the ship’s underbelly. They could not see what Xen was doing, but they could hear a sort of hissing in the floor of the ship and assumed that the ship was taking on the required fuel.
As they waited Bluey turned to Tom and asked, “Do you think we will make it back in time master?” Tom was quite sure of himself and without hesitation, and a big grin on his face said “don’t be scared old boy I trust Xen and I am very sure that we will make it back with time to spare”. This reply did very little to comfort Bluey, and he could tell that even though his master sounded positive, he too had had the same thought.
